We are an auto mechanic shop in Scarborough near Kennedy and Ellesmere. We are looking for a full-time certified auto mechanic with a minimum of 3 years experience. Job Summary:
The Auto Mechanic will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and servicing a variety of vehicles, ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety. In addition to technical duties, the mechanic will interact with clients, provide estimates, handle phone inquiries, prepare invoices, and manage customer payments.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Duties:
Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical and electrical issues in a variety of vehicles, including brakes, engines, transmissions, suspensions, and air conditioning systems.
Perform routine maintenance services such as oil changes, tire rotations, alignments, and fluid checks.
Use diagnostic tools and equipment to accurately identify problems and recommend appropriate repairs.
Test drive vehicles to ensure proper operation and resolution of issues.
Perform safety inspections and ensure vehicles meet provincial safety standards.
Customer Service and Client Interaction:
Greet customers in a professional and courteous manner.
Communicate effectively with clients to understand their automotive concerns and explain necessary repairs.
Provide accurate estimates for repairs and services, discussing costs and timelines with clients.
Keep clients informed about the progress of their vehicle repairs and notify them of any additional work needed.
Administrative Duties:
Answer phone calls, address customer inquiries, and schedule appointments.
Create and maintain repair orders and service records.
Prepare invoices for completed work and ensure accurate billing.
Process customer payments via cash, credit card, or other payment methods.
Maintain a clean and organized work area and ensure proper handling of tools and equipment.
Other Duties:
Follow all safety procedures and guidelines, adhering to company policies and government regulations.
Stay updated with industry trends and new technologies to enhance repair and service quality.
Assist with parts ordering and inventory management as needed.
Skills and Qualifications:
Proven experience as an auto mechanic or in a similar automotive repair role.
Certification as an Automotive Service Technician (AST) or equivalent is preferred.
Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems in vehicles.
Ability to use diagnostic tools, equipment, and software.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Basic math and computer skills for handling estimates, invoices, and payments.
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
