WHAT WE OFFER

Full-Time | Continuing | Fredericton | On Campus

Standard Work Hours: Mon – Fri | 7:30 am – 4:00 pm | 40 hours per week

Additional Working Conditions:

  • May be in or outdoors under varying conditions, at heights or in confined spaces.
  • Must be thoroughly familiar with the National Building Code, Refrigeration Codes, and Environmental Regulations as they affect the Refrigeration and Air Conditioning trade and the NB Occupational Health and Safety Act.

Salary: $30.25 per hour

YOUR FOCUS

Reporting to the Supervisor of the HVAC, Mechanical & Refrigeration Shop, the Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Mechanic position is skilled maintenance and construction work in the Refrigeration and Air Conditioning trade at the Journeyperson level.

  • Works as a refrigeration and air conditioning mechanic alone or as a member of a crew employed on maintenance and constriction.
  • Prepare job estimates for the labour and materials required to complete the job.
  • Allocate and supervise the work of the Trades Helpers and/or Labourers.
  • Perform elementary duties of another trade to expedite the completion of the assigned task.
  • Apply safety precautions as required to ensure minimum hazard to self and others.
  • Care for and maintain assigned tools and equipment.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Formal education as required by the Department of Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour to meet Journey Person standards for the Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Trade.
  • Must possess a current, valid license to practice the Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Trade.
  • 3 years’ experience at the Journeyperson level in the Refrigeration and Air Conditioning trade with a concentration on maintenance.
  • A combination of the above education and experience may be considered.

Additional Strengths:

  • The ability to read and interpret drawings and to work from sketches and diagrams.
  • Proven ability to work with other tradespeople, and versatility in handling and use of tools of the trade.
  • Ability to occasionally lift heavy objects, work from ladders or in cramped quarters.
