Salary scale: $50,000 – $55,000 benefits

Job Summary:

The Property Maintenance Manager at St. Joseph’s Parish is responsible for ensuring that the physical plant and the Parish’s property are maintained and operated efficiently. This position includes managing the day-to-day operations of Parish facilities, including maintenance of all fixed and mobile assets, security, janitorial services and space management. The Property Maintenance Manager oversees the work of the full-time Janitor, as well as casual workers or contractors, when applicable.

Key Responsibilities:

-Oversee the maintenance and repair of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing and structural elements.

-Manage and supervise the Janitor, as well as any casual workers or contractors, when applicable.

-Manage and prioritize work orders and maintenance requests from staff or other Parish stakeholders.

-Complete basic handyman tasks, including but not limited to: painting, minor carpentry and basic repairs.

-Coordinate with external contractors and vendors for specialized maintenance and repair work.

-Develop and manage the interior and exterior maintenance budgets, in consultation with the Executive Director.

-Plan and oversee repairs, renovations and refurbishment projects at 174 Wilbrod/151 Laurier Ave. East, as well as 591 Cumberland Ave.

-Complete room set-ups prior to scheduled events and subsequent tear downs.

-Complete basic landscaping tasks at both 174 Wilbrod/151 Laurier Ave. East, as well as 591 Cumberland Ave, including: mowing the lawn in the summer and salting entrances/clearing or shoveling ice and snow on pathways in the winter.

-Obtain quotes for major capital projects, manage and review on-going contracts with service providers.

-Assist in cleaning tasks, as needed.

-Attend staff meetings, as required.

-Ability to work occasional evenings or weekends.

-Serve as the primary contact for after-hour emergencies, including in case of fire and burglary alarms.

Qualifications:

-Secondary school diploma or equivalent

-Technical or vocational training

-Minimum of 5 years of experience in building maintenance

-Proven supervisory experience

-Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical and general building systems

-Excellent English-language communication and interpersonal skills (oral and written) when interacting with staff, parishioners, volunteers, other stakeholders, guests or community partners.

-Proficiency in using Microsoft Office programmes and email

-An ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical manuals

-A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle

-A Vulnerable Sector background check, conducted as a condition of employment

Physical Requirements:

-An ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 40 lbs)

-Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces

-Ability to stand, walk and climb for extended periods

Assets:

-Experience working with churches and/or heritage buildings

-Experience working/volunteering for Roman Catholic or other faith communities

-Knowledge of maintenance management software

-A working knowledge of French
