About the Opportunity
Methanex is currently seeking a Manager, Human Resources to join the team in Medicine Hat, AB, on a full-time basis.

The Manager of Human Resources is responsible for providing overall leadership and direction for the Human Resources function. This role supports development and restructuring initiatives by delivering specialized HR services, ensuring that all activities align with best practices and comply with corporate policies, procedures, and plans. As a key member of the Site Management Team, the Manager contributes to business goals and strategies while fostering the development of a high-performing organization.

More specifically, your responsibilities will include:

  • Identify strategies to enhance HR performance and organizational culture, ensuring alignment with the Medicine Hat business plan and global HR strategies
  • Actively participate as part of the Site Management Team, collaborating with other site managers to address both current and future HR needs
  • Oversee the development, communication, and consistent implementation of HR policies and programs across the organization, providing guidance to both managers and employees
  • Set financial objectives for the HR department, manage the HR budget, and develop site employee cost budgets while controlling expenses
  • Lead talent management processes, including career transitions, job evaluations, total compensation, and succession planning initiatives
  • Develop and implement best practices for recruitment, retention, and employee competency development, including both technical and behavioral training programs
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs), conduct assessments, and provide statistical reports to measure HR effectiveness
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations, communicating updates on legislative changes that impact HR practices
  • Actively participate in global HR operations and local committees, networking with other Methanex sites to share insights and best practices
  • Uphold Methanex’s core values of integrity, trust, respect, and professionalism while embracing the Responsible Care ethic in all HR activities

About You
In order to qualify for this role, you will need a post-secondary degree in Human Resources or Business Management. A Certified Professional Human Resource (CPHR) designation is considered an asset. You should have a minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in a human resources generalist role, with at least 2 years at the mid to senior management level, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A strong understanding of leading HR practices, knowledge of Alberta employment law, and familiarity with Alberta Human Rights legislation are essential.

As an ideal candidate, you are adaptable and handle shifting priorities with ease. You have a strong understanding of business operations and trends, and your ability to stay calm under pressure provides stability in challenging situations. You view conflicts as opportunities and work effectively to build cooperation with minimal disruption.
