Kennel Technician and Apprentice Opportunity

We are a professional dog training business specializing in balanced training methods. Our facility predominantly provides Board and Train programs tailored to each dog’s needs, ensuring their safety, comfort, and training progress.

Role Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Kennel Technician to join our team part-time. This role offers a unique opportunity to apprentice under our experienced trainer, learning the ins and outs of professional dog training.

Key Responsibilities:

Animal Care: Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for dogs, including feeding, grooming (when applicable), and exercising.
Facility Maintenance: Regular cleaning and sanitizing of kennels, play areas, and common spaces.
Monitoring: Observe and report any changes in dog behaviour, health, or well-being to the trainer.
Training Support: Assist during training sessions, learning handling techniques and training methods.
Client Interaction: Occasionally assist in greeting clients and providing updates on their dogs’ progress.

Apprenticeship Duties:
Shadow the trainer during sessions to learn balanced training techniques.
Gain hands-on experience with obedience training, behaviour modification, and socialization exercises.
Receive guidance on developing your own training skills and techniques.

Qualifications:
Passion for working with dogs and interest in learning dog training.
Strong communication and observational skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Prior experience in animal care or training is a plus, but not required.
Physically able to handle dogs of all sizes and manage physically demanding tasks.
