Yakitori Marketing Corp. (Japanese Charcoal Grill Diner(s)) is looking for two Yakitori Sous-Chef(s); for a salary of; $28.40 per hour for 30.0 hours per week to work at two location(s); (o/a) “Zakkushi on Carlton” at 193 Carlton Street, Toronto Ontario and (o/a) “Zakkushi on Queen W” at 620 Queen Street West, Toronto Ontario.

Qualifications;
– Must have two years of experience or more in preparing and cooking Yakitori dishes (grilling with Japanese Binchotan charcoal)
– Must have two years of experience or more in preparing and cooking Japanese Izakaya-style dishes such as; cold and hot appetizers, salads, grilled seafood, and deep-fried fish vegetables & meats
– Experience for Japanese charcoal (Binchotan) grilling is an asset but not mandatory
– Must be able to work evenings, weekends and overtime as assigned
– Must be able to work well in a fast-paced environment
– Completion of secondary (high) school is required
– Basic oral English is required

Job Duties
• Assist Head Chef with preparing and cooking various grilled dishes with Japanese charcoal (Binchotan)
• Assist Head Chef with preparing and cooking various Japanese Izakaya-style dishes such as; cold and hot appetizers, salads, grilled seafood, and deep-fried fish vegetables & meats
• Assist Haed Chef with menu creation
• Work with Head Chef to maintain kitchen organization, staff ability, and training opportunities
• Check proper portion sizes and consistently maintain a high quality of freshness for sushi, sashimi, salads and cold and hot tapas dishes
• When needed, assist Head Chef with instruction and supervision of kitchen helpers in their relevant duties of preparation and handling of food
• Assist in managing kitchen helpers by orienting, training, assigning and evaluating their work
• Check food preparation, food storage, use of kitchen equipment and utensils to ensure observance of safe, sanitary food-handling practices in accordance with restaurant health and safety guidelines
• Estimate expected food consumption, maintain an inventory record and discuss with Head Chef when re-stocking supplies is required.
• Create seasonal appetizers, hot and cold tapas menus, when required
• Manage duties of Head Chef in the absence of Head Chef if needed.
