Funeral Director Assistant – Brenan’s Funeral Home

We are seeking a compassionate and organized Funeral Director Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide essential support to our funeral directors and ensure smooth operations within our funeral home. This role requires a high level of empathy, attention to detail, and a commitment to serving families with respect and professionalism. This position is primarily based out of our Paradise Row location but supports all locations, as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist Funeral Directors: Provide operational and administrative support to funeral directors during arrangement conferences, visitations, and services.
  • Client Interaction: Assist with greeting and guiding families and guests, offering comfort and answering any questions they may have.
  • Removals and Transportation: Assist with removals and transportation of the deceased to and from the funeral home, cemetery, or other locations as needed.
  • Preparation: Help prepare the funeral home for visitations and services, including setting up rooms, arranging flowers, and organizing seating.
  • Documentation: Assist with the preparation and processing of necessary paperwork, including death certificates, permits, and other legal documents.
  • Facility Maintenance: Ensure the funeral home and surrounding areas are clean, organized, and presentable at all times.
  • Support Services: Provide general assistance during funerals and memorial services, including distributing service programs and helping with seating arrangements.
  • Administrative Duties: Handle phone calls, schedule appointments, and manage other administrative tasks as needed.

Qualifications

  • Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in a support or assistant role within a funeral home is preferred but not required. Training will be provided.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to offer comfort and support to grieving families.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle sensitive situations with tact, empathy, and professionalism.
  • Proficiency in using computer software and office equipment.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects when necessary.
  • Ability to work on an on call and shift basis.
