The Nuna Group of Companies is now accepting resumes for Schedule/Project Coordinator in our Edmonton, AB office. Nuna is the largest Inuit-owned heavy civil construction, earthworks, and mine construction contractor in Canada.
This position is responsible for the accurate scheduling and coordination of personnel for Multiple NUNA projects.

Job Requirements

Create and maintain an overall active Project Schedule System 

  • Creation and maintenance of an overall Active Project Schedule System allowing the organization to report on the status of projects and track and forecast equipment and people as well as creating value added information for market forecasting.
  • Design, implement and continuously improve a planning and scheduling system that promotes exceptional project execution.
  • Develop and maintain a planning and scheduling document management system that facilitates pristine record keeping and filing.
  • Research and introduce new technologies that present opportunities for improved efficiencies and effectiveness in planning, scheduling, and performance management.
  • Develop and maintain an extensive training program that supports all aspects of planning and scheduling.
  • Collaborate with IT personnel when: introducing new applications to the infrastructure, updating applications, and initiating/executing integration projects.
  • Collaborate with Database Administrator to ensure that databases are maintained appropriately and to ensure data integrity.
  • Administer application security profiles, users, libraries for both the estimating and scheduling programs. Monitor software licenses and maintenance/support packages for volume and expiration. 
  • Ensure that databases are maintained appropriately to ensure data integrity.
  • Develop and maintain project lead indicators to improve overall project and company performance
  • Support Estimating/Scheduling business unit deliverables and  processes

  • Provide a lead role in the implementation and maintenance of the integration between of the scheduling software and estimating software. 
  • Develop and manage job-specific schedules and plans as part of the tendering process.

  • Develop project schedules as needed to meet tender document requirements and to support Operational execution plans for the proposed work.
  • Support Operational project planning and scheduling  

  • Develop project schedules as needed to meet Client and Operations requirements for various Projects.
  • Develop resource loaded schedules for several active Projects.  Update schedule with progress, revise schedule according to changes related to site and resource conditions/constraints/scope, generate scheduling reports on a regular basis and provide feedback to Operations on potential areas of opportunity or risk.
  • Provide backfill support to Operations Schedulers. 
  • Identify scope changes that are discovered during the preparation of the look ahead or forecasting reports. These scope changes must be identified in sufficient detail for the Operations group to be able to track the changes.
  • Liaise with project personnel  to establish and maintain the highest level of client satisfaction 
  • Provide mentoring and training to junior planner/schedulers and operations personnel.
  • Work Experience:

    • Three years construction industry experience relating to project planning and scheduling. 
    • History of progressive responsibility with experience developing schedules and scheduling programs. 
    • Experience with the Microsoft suite of software and the current version of Primavera Project Planner
    • Experience in estimating software an asset
    • Demonstrated experience in training and mentoring junior level planners/schedulers.
       

    Education:

    • Related post-secondary education or equivalent experience related to construction project scheduling.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Thorough knowledge of estimating procedures and processes.
    • Excellent oral and written communication abilities.  
    • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
    • Good organizational skills and be able to prioritize work.
