Junior Construction Superintendent
On behalf of our client, Jump Recruitment is now seeking a Junior Construction Superintendent for a 24/14 turnaround position. This position will be an on-site turnaround role to manage projects throughout Newfoundland and Labrador. Our client is well-recognized in the field of commercial construction in several locations across the province. They have experienced significant growth in operations over the past few years and remain dedicated to quality, safety, and continued growth. Our client takes pride in providing their clients with high-quality projects from start to finish, on time and on budget. The company completes new buildings, expansions, and renovations across the province of Newfoundland and Labrador.
Reporting to the Senior Superintendent, the Junior Construction Superintendent will be responsible for the overall on-site supervision of projects from start to finish, ensuring they are completed on time and on budget. The superintendent will work as part of a team with our project managers, subcontractors, consultants, and field staff on daily operations, project objectives, and the overall progression of the project.
The Job
- Provide on-site leadership for the project team by building and motivating team members to meet project goals.
- Provide status reporting regarding project milestones, deliverable, dependencies, risks, and issues
- Working on site to ensure the compliance of construction with the drawings, specifications and safety regulations
- Planning and implementing schedules, determine manpower levels and material quantities, ensuring proper equipment and trades are available as required
- Leading project meetings with internal and external parties to monitor and support the team’s ongoing progression
- Advising Project Managers and senior management of potential problems, work interferences and schedule difficulties and assisting in resolving these problems
- Mentoring project team members to ensure career growth and development
Qualifications & Experience
- 5 years of on-site construction management experience
- Civil tech education or similar considered a asset.
- Demonstrate decisiveness in resolving business problems, making decisions, and identifying priorities
- Ability to successfully lead projects and programs on-time, on-schedule. and within budget parameters
- Familiarity with OH&S regulations and adaptation to the company safety policies and regulations
- Strong negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills
- Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and construction documents
