Position Overview:
The Aircraft Fueling Services Operator will work as part of a team to provide superior service and stakeholder satisfaction through responsibility for the safe and efficient fueling/defueling of aircraft while ensuring the well-being of self and all internal and external stakeholders.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Including but not limited to):
- Plan and carry out work assignments and handle problems in accordance with instructions, policies, previous training or accepted company practices and procedures;
- Keep all Inland owned or managed equipment, tools and materials in good working condition, including keeping clean and returning to assigned storage areas when not in use;
- Perform daily Vehicle walk-around inspections, fuel testing inspections on vehicles and tank farm equipment utilizing appropriate checklists;
- Calculate fuel distribution for a variety of aircraft;
- Perform and record light maintenance tasks on Vehicles and Equipment and immediately report any repair requirements;
Please note : Must be able to obtain and maintain any applicable Transport Canada Security Clearance and additional authorizations (Restricted Area Identity Card and Airside Vehicle Operators Permit).
Required Skills and Experience:
- Must be available and flexible to work 12-hour shifts including days, overnights, weekends, and holidays;
- High school diploma or equivalent;
- Valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets Company insurance standards;
- Valid certificate in the Transportation of dangerous goods (TDG) and workplace hazardous materials information system’s (WHMIS) considered an asset;
- Successful completion of all classroom and on-the-job training;
- Must be available and flexible to work 12-hour shifts including weekends and holidays;
- Basic computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft programs (Word, Excel and Outlook);
- Read, write, speak and communicate effectively;
- Interpret documents including safety rules, operating, maintenance and procedure manuals;
- Mathematical competence with ability to: Add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Compute rate, ratio and percent.
- General mechanical competence and ability to effectively use hand tools;
- Work as part of a team and maintain a positive and good-natured attitude;
- Self-starter with the ability to prioritize workload to ensure deadlines are met;
- Willing to learn new skills and adapt to change in order to support the growth of the company and meet needs of customers;
Work Environment:
The Aircraft Fueling Services Operator will be regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions prevalent at the time. They will be occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; fumes or airborne particles and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. There will be times when they will be required to work outside of their normal work schedule, so that we may meet the needs of our customers and/or operational requirements.
Physical Demands:
- It is expected that the candidate be physically fit and able to perform all operational requirements;
- Ability to lift, push, and pull objects up to 75 pounds occasionally and 50 pounds regularly;
- Must have the ability to climb 15-foot heights for work;
- Position involves standing or sitting for extended periods of time as well as bending, kneeling, lifting, climbing, using hands to control tools and feel objects, reaching with hands and arms;
- Work in a confined space for extended periods of time;
- Work outdoors for long periods when necessary;
- Wear personal protective equipment when required and ensure full mobility allowing for freedom of movement in high-risk environment;
- Must be able to speak clearly and hear efficiently;
- Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus;
- May be required to move, connect, disconnect hoses and be able to operate industrial valves and perform general labor duties.
