Shipper – permanent position – DAY SHIFT – $44K to $47K to start
Monday to Thursday (6:00am to 3:00pm) ; Friday (6:00am to 12:00pm)
LOCATION: Scarborough, Ontario
Qualifications:
High School Diploma
3 yrs experience prior shipping experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Strong planning, time management and organizational skills
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Proactive and able to work with minimal supervision
Computer literate, including proficiency in MS Office
Good knowledge of proper Health and Safety practices including industrial hygiene, WHMIS, PPE use and care, safe lifting and handling techniques
Experience with TDG (transporting and handling of dangerous goods)
Knowledge of ISO 9001
Forklift certification (or willingness to obtain)
Willing and able to work assigned shift
Duties:
• Responsible for all outgoing and incoming freight
• Coordination of services for both the carrier and the customer to ensure on-time deliveries and the scheduling of contractors if crane services are needed
• Proactively plan and respond to changes in shipping requirements
• Document preparation for all outgoing and incoming shipments within Canada, US, and internationally
• Coordinate shipments between Carriers, Customers, Contractors, and Suppliers
• Forward P.O. information to Suppliers
• Reconcile invoices with accounting for discrepancies in price or quantity
• Freight selection ensuring best price and timing based on the shipment’s priorities
• Assess freight requirements, review potential suppliers, develop a ship list, present recommendations and be able to justify the decision
• Maintain centralized filing system including the ERP system on a timely basis
• Focus on continuous improvement by recommending cost savings, system and process improvements
• Participation in the monitoring and management of supplier delivery performance
• Promote effective work with respect to ISO and safety procedures
