Responsibilities

Tasks

  • Assemble mechanical parts into subassemblies
  • Assemble, fit and install prefabricated parts to form subassemblies or finished products
  • Read blueprints to determine work requirements
  • Assemble or connect electrical components
  • Position, align and adjust parts for proper fit and assembly
  • Connect cables, tubes and wires
  • Operate automated assembling equipment
  • Fasten parts together using fastening and joining equipment
  • Operate or tend automated assembling equipment
  • Operate small cranes to transport or position larger parts
  • Inspect finished products for proper functioning
  • Check mechanical assemblies and subassemblies for alignment and proper functioning
  • Make minor adjustments and repairs
  • Report any malfunctions to supervisor
  • Prepare bills of lading, invoices and other shipping documents
  • Pack goods to be shipped
  • Open valves and start pumps
  • Report on structural, component or system failures
  • Inspect products at various stages of processing to ensure adherence to specifications
  • Inspect products to determine the requirements for repair
  • Conduct training sessions
  • Provide customer service
  • Install major components such as gears, pumps, motors or hydraulic assemblies
  • Arrange for shipping documentation and the tracking and tracing of goods in transit
  • Conduct or supervise the installation, commissioning, and operation of electrical and electronic equipment and systems
  • Commission systems and components
