What You Will Do:

As a Technician, Distribution, you will play an essential role within our Operations team, reporting to the Supervisor, HRM Operations. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Performing duties related to the operation and maintenance of the natural gas pipeline systems and associated equipment.
  • Undertake system integrity work such as line locating, leak surveys, odorant and cathodic protection reads.
  • Collaborate with operations engineering to identify maintenance work and implement solutions to ensure system integrity and safety.
  • Perform gas measurement including meter reads, installation and maintenance of gas meters, regulators, and reliefs.
  • Participating in our annual competency assessment program for field employees.
  • Be a part of the on-call duty roster once the required training and competencies are completed.

What You Will Need to Succeed:

This position has the following occupational requirements:

  • A Gas Technician certificate with five years of experience.
  • A valid Class 5 Drivers license is required with a clean driver’s abstract.
  • Ability to work throughout the entire Eastward Energy franchise area, and occasionally outside of standard work hours.
  • Completion of a pre-employment drug and alcohol test as per Eastward Energy Drug & Alcohol Testing Policy due to the safety sensitive nature of this role.

  • A strong mechanical aptitude and dexterity when using tools, equipment, and instruments.
  • Excellent organization and communication skills.
  • Effective decision-making and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to think critically and exercise judgment when multi-tasking and under tight deadlines.
  • Previous experience in the natural gas industry.
