Responsibilities
Tasks
- Conduct research on related specialized therapies
- Consult with other health care professionals to evaluate treatment plans
- Evaluate the effectiveness of counselling and the patient’s outcomes
- Interview clients, prepare case histories and assess problems
- Record observations
- Review reports from health care professionals to determine patients’ current and potential functioning levels
- Write progress reports
- Provide therapy
- Implement treatment plans
- Analyze the patient during the treatments
- Apply psychological theory and principles regarding behaviour and mental processes
- Develop and implement counselling and intervention programs to assist clients in determining goals and means of attaining them
- Maintain accurate records
- Initiate, design and implement specialized therapy programs
- Liaise with community agencies or partners, and identify additional or alternative services and provide referrals
