DUTIES
- Reporting to the Manager, Academic Programs, the successful candidate will be involved in the operation of the School of Social Work’s Undergraduate and Graduate academic programs.
- Participating on and supporting various committees for Undergraduate and Graduate programs.
- Coordinating the academic programs admission processes.
- Determining and communicating applicant admission status.
- Responding to academic program related inquiries for prospective and current students, including inquiries for the BSW, MSW, and PhD programs.
- Administrating and coordinating course change forms.
- Coordinating requests for deferred exams, incomplete grades, and re-reads.
- Overseeing academic requests and appeals.
- Evaluating and facilitating the transfer credits and course equivalency process.
- Reviewing and advising students on their program of study.
- Managing enrollment and registration for the Undergraduate and Graduate programs.
- Distributing the Graduate Student Annual Program and Supervisory Report to supervising faculty members.
- Preparing promotional and application materials for the BSW, MSW, and PhD programs as appropriate.
- Developing initiatives to increase awareness and interest in all Social Work academic programs through information sessions, high school visits, and MUN community exhibitions.
- Developing initiatives to support student success and liaising with the Office of Student Recruitment as required.
- Overseeing and supporting various events for the School, Undergraduate and Graduate students.
- Advising and providing direction to student volunteer teams.
- Coordinating leave of absence requests, course load waivers, reductions and withdrawals, or other services within or outside the University.
- Identifying concerns and assessing needs to provide support to students.
- Updating students and faculty with information on academic programs.
- Assessing and identifying scholarships and award recipients.
- Updating the website and other social media outlets as needed.
- Performing other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience (3-5 years) in an administrative capacity in an academic environment.
- Completion of an Undergraduate degree in Social Work, Education, or a related discipline is required; or any equivalent combination of experience and training may be considered.
- The successful candidate will navigate the School of Social Work’s academic and admissions regulations/systems for the Undergraduate and Graduate programs in accordance with departmental policies and procedures, and provincial Social Work legislation/regulations.
- Knowledge of organizational systems such as OnBase, Banner, and the registration system are considered assets; as well as familiarity with University policies and procedures.
SALARY $54,770 – $82,150 per annum (Management and Professional)
